Hootie Hoot...

I couldn't resist, when I saw this big guy, it so reminded me of Men in Black...
I'm not sure why, it just looks sooooo alien ... and it is a big black bug, so...

Walking just after Sunset...something large and swooshy flew directly overhead
and landed on a branch just behind me about five feet up. I had no idea at first what it was.
It did not make a sound.
I turned and looked up in the trees and there, practically right over my head was this huge owl.
I'd never even seen one before that was not in captivity.
It was completely amazing! But. God is an amazing Creator.
Since it was well into the magic hour and I was hand holding (sans tripod)...
I decided to use flash. And I am so glad I did, because I would not have gotten the shot otherwise. There was barely any light under the treeline. I had one more shot of him but I inadvertantly deleted it, so I'll post it again...
The only editing done on this boy was to remove the red eye caused by the flash ...
and to sign my name..
Please click on the image to view it larger...It is so cool!
and look for the other shot of him/her, in my next post.
